Austin’s Best Margaritas

Austin’s Best Margaritas

So it’s currently the dead of winter in Austin, Texas which has us at ATX Bartenders semi-nostalgic for the 100+ degree days when downing a gallon of margaritas in the Texas sun is perfectly acceptable. While we realize doing so in the frigid 40 to 60 degree temps of the harsh Austin winter is less than normal, quite frankly we don’t care. We also thought it was a good idea to get a jump start on the spring and summer when everyone will be searching for the best margarita in Austin.

Here are a few of our favorite spots to grab a delicious margarita no matter what time of the year it may be.

Best Happy Hour Margarita

Tacos and Tequilas (TNT)
TNT hold’s a special place in the heart of Austinites, partly because of their amazing Happy Hour. Not only can you drink down $4 house rock’s margaritas that are incredibly delicious at TNT’s Happy Hour, but you can also fill up on $1.50 tacos that are a-mazing! Happy hour extends all day on Mondays and from 4pm-7pm Tuesday-Friday.

Best Place for a “Strong” Margarita

Matt’s El Rancho/ Baby Acapulco
This is likely to be hotly debated in the comments, but from our personal experience Matt’s El Rancho and Baby A’s hold the title for the strongest margarita’s in Austin. Matt’s basic margarita is far stronger than you might realize at first, but trust us after 2 of these babies you might not be able to find your way out of their ridiculously oversized restaurant. Baby A’s on the other hand has a very special “Purple” margarita on their menu which you can only order two times. It doesn’t help that the thing is incredibly tasty. Drink up, or drink slowly..but definitely drink at both these prime margarita spots in Austin.

Best Place for a Frozen Margarita

Odd Duck
We love Odd Duck. It’s odd, and has a distinctively “Austin” vibe without losing its Texan roots. Oh, and it’s trendy. We choose them as one of the best places to score a frozen margarita because of their orange concoction that tastes like heaven. Blended to perfection, this orange rita is sure to please anyone who loves to drink. The drink is expensive, but well worth trying at least once.

Best Place for a Delicious Mexican Martini

Obviously, we couldn’t leave Trudy’s off our list of the best places to score a margarita, even though we’re really crazy about their Mexican Martini. Their Martini really has to be experienced to be understood. The combo of fresh olive juice with Trudy’s amazing margarita recipe is better than it sounds. Trudy’s also offers an extensive list of flavored margs and an out-of-this-world house margarita that is just $4 on Monday’s for their happy hour. Stop in and try one of each, just don’t tell them we sent you.
